Bart Verbraeken was educated as a pure organic synthesis chemist, focusing on bioactive structures in his Master’s degree. For his PhD (Ghent University, Belgium), he switched his focus to supramolecular chemistry. Here he worked on the synthesis of cyclic imino ethers, their respective polymers, and the post-polymerization modifications of these polymers for a broad range of applications – from biomedical uses to engineering plastics.
Davey received his Master in Chemical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2016, where he was trained as an organic and polymer chemist. Afterwards, he joined the Stimuli-responsive Functional Materials and devices group at the same university, where he obtained his PhD degree on the development of photonic materials and soft actuators from oxetane liquid crystals in 2021. In the Orbiscope team, he works on the development of the next generation of SMA solutions for biomedical research and personal care.
